AV Trends in Experience Design

Last week, David Markham, Founder and Managing Partner at Ochre, joined the team at NMK Electronics for the launch of their new Beyond Experience Center.

The session, AV Trends in Experience Design, explored how experience design has evolved over the past five years and what that means for how technology is applied in real environments today.

Using Ochre’s project examples, the session showed how design and technology come together in practice. From the immersive storytelling of Sharjah Gateway to the Trucial States to the experience-led environments created for Expo City Dubai at COP28, the message was clear. Technology is most effective when it supports a wider experience rather than leading it.

The talk also touched on current AV trends shaping experience design, including wave field audio, transparent displays, real time content systems and the growing role of AI. These technologies were framed as practical tools that help create more responsive and intuitive spaces.

Delivered to system integrators and technology partners, the session closed with a clear message: the best projects happen when design and technology start the conversation together.
